LUCiD: AI Animation Trailer
Toy Project

Project Summary: Created a complete animated trailer where everything except editing was generated using AI - from visuals and audio to voice acting. The project pushed the boundaries of what's possible with current AI tools like Luma AI's Dream Machine.
The Creative Challenge
In July 2024, I embarked on an ambitious experiment: could I create a professional-quality animation using only AI tools? The answer became "LUCiD," a trailer that tells the story of two children searching for the legendary World Tree in a world where nature and humanity exist in tension.
The project represented a pure test of AI's creative capabilities. Every element - images, video sequences, background music, sound effects, and even character voices - was generated by artificial intelligence. Only the final editing remained in human hands.
Technical Innovation
The production pipeline showcased the current state of AI creative tools:
- Visuals: Stable Diffusion XL generated all character designs and backgrounds
- Animation: Luma AI's Dream Machine transformed static images into fluid video sequences
- Audio: Suno AI composed the original soundtrack
- Sound Design: MetaMind Creative AI and Freesound provided atmospheric effects
- Voices: AI-generated character dialogue in both English and Korean
The process revealed that Pixar-style 3D aesthetics work better with current AI video generation than traditional 2D animation styles.
The Story
In an era bereft of light, two children embark on a quest to find the legendary World Tree, said to contain starlight, in the last unconquered land by humankind.
The narrative explores a fundamental question: Is nature something to be overcome, or something to coexist with? Through the eyes of young protagonists encountering talking animals in a hostile yet magical world, the story reflects our own relationship with the natural environment.

Impact and Future Vision
This project demonstrates how AI is reshaping creative industries. The ability to produce complex, multi-layered content with minimal human input suggests a future where AI truly acts as collaborative intelligence in storytelling - from initial concept to final production.
As these tools become more sophisticated, the line between human and artificial creativity continues to blur, opening unprecedented possibilities for independent creators and small teams to produce content that previously required large studios and budgets.
